ADORNEMENT AS SYMBOLIC EXPLORATION OF INNER RESOURCES.
Adornments for human bodies have existed as long as people have wanted to stay warm or express something about themselves and the world they live in. Somehow we sense that colours, shapes, materials, craftsmanship, culture and meanings of what we choose to wear have certain effects on us and really on our surroundings, the environment we move through. To continue in this ancient tradition, creating unique pieces that accentuate the beauty of the human form, and the message they give the wearer, as well as their environment. Small wearable sculptures with the precious elements of the Earth, Stones, Shells, Leather, Metals, as she wire wraps, solders, hammers, sets, polishes, recycles materials, all these elements are incorporated into her work. The variety of these pieces- necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, pouches, and pendants as well as the materials used, the styles explored are all part of the exploration process. Behind each unique creation is a moment and an intention, as her attention was taken to create it - what, where, who made them, what they represent, where the materials are from- they are all messages to Her Self, Our Selves and to Our Environment. Activated when by wearing them.

my HAND CUT LEATHER lace inspired by Feathers a long time love of mine (birds) Hand Scissor Snipped in a Geometry Inspired Lace.
hand cutting these pieces is a dance and a play with possible 3 dimensionality and texture as well adds an airiness to the material. patterns have emerged over the many years of practice of this method. Leather is both a Sacred and a Durable Material. Animal Skins to Adorn Us, Decorate our Lives, Shield us from the Weather; Jackets, Sofas, Hand Bags and so much more. Many are unusable after a while. I search and collect as many Reusable Materials as Possible. Honouring these skins. Crystals or Stones are then intermingled to create wearable art.
